Mouse and Rat Embryo Cryopreservation

Embryo cryopreservation service is available for both mouse and rat lines. Cryopreservation of your line serves as a low-cost insurance for your colony, providing protection from genetic drift or a catastrophic loss. Cryopreservation can also be used to archive intermediate genotypes during intercross or backcross breeding or as an economical alternative for sharing your line with collaborators across the globe.

Donor animals for cryopreservation may be shipped directly to LAM (Nencki Institute Animal House) - health monitoring reports are not required

Embryos are generated via natural mating (after hormonal stimulation of superovulation).

Embryo cryopreservation (best used for preserving background, complex genotypes and lines with multiple genetic modification) includes 200 embryos for homozygotes and 300 for heterozygotes.

Services include supporting in vitro quality control data pre and post cryopreservation.
